ByteWise is an Android learning application covering programming, algorithms, development, and systems. This policy explains how information is handled by the app, its advertising services, and this website. ByteWise is supported by advertising through Google AdMob.
1. Information stored on your device
The app’s learning content is bundled with the app and read locally. You do not need to create an account to access it. Preferences such as theme, selected category, DSA language, terms acceptance, and learning activity used for streaks and review prompts are stored on your device. The app does not upload these preferences or learning records to a ByteWise server.
2. Advertising and information collected by Google
The app uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to display banner and interstitial ads when online. The SDK automatically collects and shares information with Google for advertising, measurement, and fraud prevention. This includes:
- Your IP address, which can indicate approximate location.
- App and ad interactions, such as launches, taps, and video views.
- Diagnostic and performance information about the app and advertising SDK.
- Device and account identifiers, including the Android advertising ID and app set ID when available.
Advertising identifiers and similar technologies can be used to deliver and measure ads, limit repeated ads, and support personalisation depending on device settings and the advertising service’s configuration. Non-personalised ads can still involve data collection for measurement and fraud prevention.

3. Support and other third-party services
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use this information to respond to your enquiry and handle support requests. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information.
Google Play handles app downloads, updates, and reviews under its own policies. Opening an advertisement or an external link takes you to a third-party service whose privacy practices apply.
4. Sharing, retention, and security
Advertising information is sent to Google through the advertising SDK. Google and its advertising partners process information under their respective policies. We do not sell your support correspondence or upload your locally stored learning preferences to an advertising service.
Local app preferences remain on your device until cleared through the app or Android’s app-storage controls. Information held by Google is retained under Google’s policies and settings. Clearing app storage does not delete information already held by a third-party service.
Google documents that Mobile Ads SDK data is encrypted in transit using TLS. No method of electronic storage or transmission can guarantee complete security.
5. Your privacy choices
Android provides advertising ID controls, including reset or deletion options where supported. You can also manage applicable Google advertising preferences through My Ad Center. Available controls depend on your Android version and Google settings. Changing ad personalisation settings does not necessarily stop all advertising-related data collection.
You can clear ByteWise’s local preferences through Android’s app-storage settings. Contact us with privacy questions or requests concerning information you have provided directly to us. Requests about information held by Google should be made through Google’s privacy controls.
6. Children’s privacy
ByteWise does not ask children to submit personal information to read its lessons. The third-party advertising practices described above also need to be considered when using the app. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided personal information directly to us, please contact us so we can address the request.
7. This website
This website introduces the Android app and publishes its legal information. It does not include the app’s lesson library. It saves a theme preference in your browser’s local storage when available; you can remove it by clearing this site’s browser data. The website does not run an advertising SDK or added analytics scripts.
The website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may process visitors’ IP addresses and technical information as described in the GitHub Privacy Statement.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app or its services change. The effective date above indicates the latest revision.
